Start 2018 with Healthy Habits
A New Year, a new start! Begin 2018 with healthy habits that provide numerous positive effects. By making just a few alterations to your lifestyle you can make a big difference to your health, energy and creativity. Here are 6 simple tips for a healthy start to the New Year!
Invest in active furniture.
Replace your office chair regularly with an active work chair such as a balance ball or pilates stool. These types of chair force your body to concentrate on sitting properly, exercising your important muscle groups whilst you work! A height-adjustable desk allows you to easily vary your work position. Standing up whilst you work improves your posture, increases blood circulation, and kick starts your metabolism.
Plan your meals.
Remember to keep your blood sugar level at an even level during the workday with regular snacks - and try not to skip lunch. Prepare your favourite healthy snack the previous evening - then then it’s ready to go the next morning! By planning your meals, you can save both time and money.
Take the stairs. Small choices make a big difference.
Opting to take the stairs instead of the lift is a great start to becoming more active during your work day. Walking upstairs means you extend and stretch your legs, increasing blood circulation. The result? More energy and a higher level of concentration!
Don’t forget to hydrate.
Drinking plenty of water helps keep the concentration levels up. If you have trouble keeping track of how much water you drink then you can download an app on your mobile that will remind you when it’s time to take a sip.
Walk more.
Make it a habit to take a short walk during your lunch break. Move away from your desk to meet with colleagues, instead of emailing or phoning them. Walking meetings are a great way to exercise the body and mind at the same time. Whilst also breaking out of the office environment and getting some fresh air. This can do wonders for creativity!
Workout in the workplace.
Not everyone is lucky enough to have a gym in their workplace. So instead why not create a small exercise corner where you and your colleagues can do simple exercises. Request to set up a corner in the workplace with yoga mats, mini trampolines and other exercise gear.
